Singapore Trip- Day 1

This trip happened a week after my Boston trip. That why I did not have much time to plan and Yvonne & Yen too, xtremely busy thru out this period. So even the trip was badly 'planned' but we did had a enjoyable trip. Most of all was the group, even we really planned for a budget trip. Most of us were broke, due to our Coach shopping spree back in Boston.....

We overnight at Yvonne's house due to we had an early bus, 7.45 am to catch at Holiday Inn Subang. We took a taxi early in the morning that cost us RM 11.50 from USJ 3. We had breakfast at a mamak shop opposite SDMC and walked to Holiday Inn, morning breeze, not too bad.

We took First Coach that cost us RM 115 (to & fro), quite comfy & spacious, with TV & movie (except for the front seat), and free of a bottle of water & bread.

We reached Singapore, The Plaza at 1.30 pm. We had a long walked to find the nearest MRT station to Geylang. We had problem finding the station even after asking a few passerby. Due to tired & hungry, we stopped by a nearby mall and took lunch.

Yvonne & Yen took beef set while hubby ordered chicken set. As for me, I need something refreshing, so I ordered Cha Soba, but the taste was quite sorry.....

After lunch, the waitress pointed us to a bus station. According to her we could take bus no 2, 12 & 30 to Geylang. We hopped on a bus but the bus just stopped at a corner to Geylang. So we came down and thanks to a good samaritans, he lead us to another bus take take us to nearby street, 21. Our hotel located at Street 20, so it took us sometime to find it. Worse, the hotel address was printed wrongly by the agent. When I informed the receptionist, she exclaimed that I should tell the agent instead of the hotel. What the f***, my job to amend your mistake? Hotel 81, not a good service!!!

The room was not that clean, bit of smell, small but still worth the money. Can't complained much since all of us agreed on a budget trip....

They provide towels, but we did not dare to use.... heheh

We knew Geylang is a red light district. But before booked the hotel, I did browsed thru the reviews and they were all positives. My colleague did told me that Geylang is kinda clean these days but later, we learned from a taxi driver that all the odd number streets are clean while the even numbers are still on business. Haha... and so right that our hotel was surrounded by 'the businesses'.

Really, if ladies traveller, this place is not recommended!! There were lots of 'man sitting along the streets looking hungry... and when we time we returned to hotel at night, the street was so happening. We got scared!! really....

After bath, we went straight to Orchard Road. My colleague recommended Ion Mall's food court. There were so much of choices. She recommeded chicken wings, peking duck & roasted suckling pig. We planned to eat something light so that could take supper. I ordered a plate of suckling pig, but dunno why it came with rice.....

Fat & not so nice

Hubby ordered bak kut teh, but tasted more like a pork belly soup.

Yen ordered fried radish cake which I could not take. so sad....

Yvonne ordered a lot, dumpling & choo cheong fun. They said very nice.... can't eat because got radish pickle.... hmm

We then went for shopping around Orchard. Hubby bought me a Liz Claborne long wallet as our anniversary gift. Yvonne bought one for herself too. Me & Yen bought some on saled clothes, one from Zara... cost $19.90... heheh. All these were good deal with CItibank card, further discount, with Amex too.

After tired of shopping, we went back to Ion to get our supper. This was the chicken wing my colleague recommended. Really nice, we planned to go again before the trip ended but unfortunately....... nevermind, for sure next time.

Finally only I saw a stall selling the peking duck & suckling pig wrap, this was the one my colleague recommended, not the earlier ones I took. Due to closing, we had better offered. 2 box of suckling pig & duck each that cost us $18. The pig was superb but the duck smells....

These were the steam cakes. Various flavor, macha red bean, pumpkin, chocolate chip, strawberry & sesame. I kinda like it but hubby said too sticky...
