My Honeymoon- Day 1

This is what I called myself just married....
My first article in my life, when I really have the courages to blog. Something happy and adventurous to me during my honeymoon trip.
Just rename myself as Mrs. Lim.... really not used to it.... sigh... Apart from those tiring ceremony, the one I was longing for is my Honeymoon... the one I have planned since April 2009....... Here it comes

Macau Trip, Day 1, Sept 30, Wednesday

Basically we did not sleep much a night before. Somehow we just returned from Penang upon our wedding. We woke up at 2.30 am and get ourselves done. Limosine arrived at 3.30 am sharp. Of course the traffic was clear at this point of hours, but it still took us about 45 minutes to LCCT. The taxi charged us RM93.90, what to do, charges usually higher during midnight.
We had a bite of buns I kept in my bag pack before boarding. This is how we look during the waiting.

We boarded Air Asia AK 50 at 6.30 am and landed at Macau International Airport about 10.15 am. Upon retrieved our luggage, we headed for the arrival hall. Hubby decided to gave his sister a call to acknowledge our arrival but my Maxis was giving me problem for not showing any roaming. Finally we managed to get 10 Macanese changed and got a public phone. I did gave my sis a called too after hubby done with his.
May has advised us that we may hopped into any hotel or casino shuttle to get to wherever we want, but for the Macau freshmen, we do not dare. We lingered quite sometimes at the arrival hall looking for public transport to go Rua de Cunha, a street famous for food in Taipa village. Even after the information gathered at information counter, we boldly hopped up to Venetian shuttle bus.

Of course la, we still gotta pretend we did trying to check in and wondering around at Venetian before looking for ‘food’

We had a 20 minutes’ walk from Venetian to Rua de Cunha. The problem is, not all people in Macau understand the street name in Macanese. But luckily I did some research, Rua de Cunha is called Koon Ya Kai in Cantonese. Managed to snap a few photos before we reached there and it started to rain!!!

My throat started to sore as I did not drink any water after boarding that morning. So when I saw there is a restaurant, we just sat down and ordered some drinks to refresh. To my surprise, we were at Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei (大利来记), the famous for the pork chop bun (猪扒包). I was told that the bun only available at 3 pm, but they do served pork chop in sweet bun or bread, so I ordered one in sweet bun. Some people complaint the original pork chop bun is hard but the one we ate in sweet bun was just nice. The pork chop was soooo juicy and tender. It is thick and soft. Highly recommended, HKD 16 per piece. It is one of the highlight we had in Macau. The problems they had are the waiters were not very friendly and they do not have small change for Hong Kong dollar. So to those who wish to travel to Macau, do have a small amount of Macanese with you, even most of the trip advisors says Hong Kong dollar is applicable there.

We then purchased 2 bottles of mineral water from 7-11. Before buying, we did ask if there are changes for 100 HKD. Even they said they have but they were not very happy with it.
We managed to find one of the targets of my Macau trip, the Seng Cheong Crab Porridge. We ordered a small portion of the famous crab porridge (HKD 95) and recommended steamed black pepper eel (Seasonal Price, HKD 20/aunce). It ends up not as well as we expected. If I thought the waiters in Café Tai Lei Loi Kei are terrible, they are nowhere met the waiters here. There are a few couples that turned away after rejected by the waiters of their desire seats.

It’s about 12 pm when started to rain quite heavily. With the 2 big luggages, we decided to board a taxi back to hotel. Stupid me that forgot to find the hotel name in cantonese. All my bookings were in english and the taxi driver find it hard to get the hotel name & street. But finally Thank God, he still manage to guess, phew!!!
The Royal Macau was fabulous. The charges was reasonable, it is written a 3 star hotel on booking.com but they claimed they are 5 stars on the hotel brochure. To my judgement, a 3.5 stars will do by judging the hotel facilities. But I’ll give them 5 stars for service, very friendly & dedicated staff.

Since both of us were quite exhausted, hubby took a nap while I just indulged myself in the bath for almost 30 mins. We then headed to Senado Square by foot but it took us a few wrong turned. We ended up soaked in rain as it started raining again. We managed to visit St. Paul Ruins and saw a couple took wedding photos but we guess they are doing for some advertisement instead. We did do some shopping and food tasting at Kok Kei Pastry Shop. Ended up buying HKD 130 of cookies, considered myself boleh tahan, heheheh. On the way to St. Paul Ruins, we bought a pork chop bun and Portuguese egg tart but the taste were so so. Nowhere near to Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei.

The sky turned dark rather early compared Malaysia and we tried to look for this famous Café e Nata. We found it but it was closed on Wednesday. #$$%^^&&**(*%. So we ended up eating some crap Black Pepper Goose Drumstick noodle somewhere nearby. Very oily with no black pepper taste. Cost us HKD 60 and not as nice compared to Guangzhou’s Roasted Goose Drumstick.

We then took a walk to the famous Casino- The Grand Lisboa. We strolled along and tried to get their shuttle bus to Venetian but were rejected by their staff as we do not have the ticket. We can obtain the ticket if we gambled at their casino…….. so sad.

So, we ended up taking a small bus (van is more appropriate) to Venetian and we stopped at the wrong station, so ended up abit of foot work as well.

We had a few games in Venetian, the JACKPOT!!!!! As a fresh bride, I managed to win HKD 167 from a HKD 10 note. After keeping the HKD 67 as our cost and save as revenue, we decided to gamble the HKD 100…. Anyways, as expected, we loosed the HKD 100…. Well, worth a try anyway… heheheh

It’s about 9 pm when we took a Venetian shuttle back to the Pier and transfer back to our Hotel by the hotel shuttle. We were so hungry and decided to wonder around to look for any food. To our surprise, I saw this restaurant that has been recommended in the tourist guide and had a lot of celebrities eating there before. So we decided to give it a try. I ordered a wonton noodle with shrimp roe (HKD 43) and hubby a fried beef noodle. I love mine, the shrimp roe were soooooo crispy and it was sold HKD 180/ bottle… sorry….

That’s the end of Day 1. We walked back to hotel and took a nice bath…… then sleep lar of course!!!
