My Honeymoon - Day 2

Macau Trip, Day 2, Oct 1, Thursday

We woke up rather late this morning, about 9 am, hehe…. Gotta have enough sleep before continuing our journey. We had a moderate hotel breakfast which does not have any surprises……
After getting the direction from hotel staff, we took a bus no 7 to Ah-Ma temple. There were lots of visitors mostly from mainland and Japan. The curious thing is, there are a lot of people were either lack of common sense or never hold a joss stick before. As normal Buddhist practitioners knew that lighted joss stick should be held vertically up, most of the visitors were so reckless that they held it horizontally down at their tight. I was telling my hubby how inconsiderate these people are and an accidently immediately happened in front of my eye. A Chinese lady had poked a Japanese lady on her arse…… well, the only thing I may say is God bless her….

After that we went for a short walk around the temple area before headed back to Senado Square where we saw some colourful building and Macanese architecture.

We took bus no. 5 back to Senado and brilliant me took a wrong stopped again. But luckily we still managed to find Senado Square and ways to Margarate’s Portugese egg tarts.
Their business hour: Mon- Sat: 630 - 2000; Sun: 900 – 1900; Rest on Wed. ;(. The tart was sooooo crispy & flaky and the custard itself was soft, fine and just nice, not too sweet. We ordered 4 pcs (HKD7/pc) with a cup of milk tea with total cost of HKD 38.

We then went back to Senado Square for some photos shooting and visited a church & Ruin St. Paul. It was full of Mid Autumn Festival decoration with colourful lantern hanging around.

After Ruin St. Paul, we went back to Hotel and passed by Yee Soon Dairies (义顺牛奶公司), a café famous for their steam double skin milk. We bought one of it and another steam egg. The Double skin milk was rather sweet for my liking but full of milk fragrance while the steam egg has fine texture. We had a late check out from hotel and pursued to Fisherman Wharf, right opposite Sand Casino. I have learnt that there was a International Food Fair at Fisherman Wharf started on Oct 1, 2009. Unfortunately when we reached at 1 pm, the stalls were not ready. There was a stall selling barbecue alligator meat but also close. After we learned from a lady selling drinks, the food fair started at 4 pm, hence we decided to find a restaurant for lunch.

We ended up in this restaurant called Mak’s Noodle which is quite famous in Hong Kong. I’ve ordered a fresh shrimp wanton (HKD 26/ 8pcs wanton) while hubby ordered a beef tendon noodle (HKD 40). The soup base for my wanton was nice and the shrimps were so fresh. Hubby’s beef tendon was a bit too soft. I took a photo together with my sunglass, as a measurement of how small the portion is, hehe.
After lunch, we took a shuttle bas from Babylon Casino to the Pier. We bought 2 ferry tickets and one of our luggages was charged another HKD 20 for being extra large ;(. The journey took us about 1 hr and we did sleep through the whole journey. Bye Bye Macau…….

It was about 4 pm when we reached Tsim Tsa Tsui Ferry Terminal. After the custom checking, we took a taxi to our hotel, Metropark Kowloon. The taxi driver did not understand English so he called back to his station for guidance. By the time we checked in and get our luggage, its already 6 pm.

The bell boy told us that there will be firework at Victoria Harbour for the celebration of China 60 yrs of independent. What a coincident! Somehow, the shuttle stopped going to Tsim Tsa Tsui station after 4 pm that day. So after settled down, we reload the Octopus card given by May Hong at 7-11 and took the hotel shuttle to Mongkok station. We headed to Tsim Tsa Tsui station and the station and some roads were blocked for the preparation of celebration. We followed the traffic to Victoria Harbour and waited there until 8 pm for the fireworks. The fireworks were fabulous and the signature were China 60 in Chinese and a smiley face.

We were all sweat after the fireworks and felt so hungry. We tried to look for the YAO GUAT HEI steamboat but failed. Instead, we saw a restaurant stated 100 yrs of history, near Tsim Tsa Tsui station, exit A2. I ordered a sesame noodle with pork ribs & beef brisket. Very nice and highly recommended. No wonder such a old restaurant survives. Hubby ordered honey vinegar pork ribs rice and it tasted like Malaysia vinegar pork trotters.

After dinner, we asked the waiter if he knew YAO GUAT HEI steamboat and he directed us. We found it! We shall come back tomorrow, heheheeh. The Tsim Tsa Tsui metro resumed to work so we headed back to Mongkok station. We visited Ladies Street along the Sai Yong Choi St. Unfortunately, it looks more like Petaling Street in Malaysia and both hubby and I could not find anything interesting. We end up empty handed. It took us about 15 mins walk back to hotel, we stopped by the famous Hui Lau Shan dessert shop and ordered sago Mango with pamelo and mango with glutinous rice ball. The sago Mango with pamelo was rather nice while to glutinous rice ball was rather hard.

We then headed back to hotel and that’s the end of Day 2……
